Nepean Museum gets provincial cash

One of Ottawa’s neighbourhood museums will have a bit more funding to help them share the history of one of Ottawa’s oldest communities.

The Nepean Museum has received $28,315 in annual funding through the Community Museum Operating Grant  program.  It is about a thousand dollars more than the museum received from the program last year.

Museum curator Rachel Perkins says this funding will be used to help make the museum more accessible to everyone.

“We’re hoping to create, basically, a virtual Nepean Museum, where people can look at our collections electronically, via our website, so this kind of funding allows that opportunity,” Perkins said.

In addition to updating the website, the funding will go towards developing new exhibitions, family activities and school programs that preserve Nepean’s history.
