OC Transpo ridership at all-time high

A record setting 8.4 million passengers boarded OC Transpo buses in December.

Alain Mercier, the head of OC Transpo, says conveniences like the new smart card that will soon be introduced will help ridership numbers continue to rise.

The card resembles a pre-paid credit card, will eliminate all tickets and cash exchanged on the buses, and allow passengers to load the cards via their computers or smart phones.
