Quebec Premier Jean Charest is warning that the Parti Quebecois is becoming more radical.
The premier and liberal leader points to the overwhelming support that leader Pauline Marois received on the weekend.
Marois garnered the backing of 93.1 per cent of delegates who took part in a confidence vote on her leadership on Saturday.
Charest says resolutions adopted at the weekend policy convention show the Marois and the party are taking a hard line.
One such measure would make it mandatory for francophones and immigrants who attend junior college to do so in french.
Charest also warns that if Marois and the PQ are elected they will want to bring about conflict with the federal government.
He says the PQ will be concentrating more on the next sovereignty referendum and not the economy.
Charest, whose liberals hold a slim majority in Quebec’s National Assembly, doesn’t need to call an election until 2013.
