Health Canada says microbial contamination has been found in samples of a ginseng product sold by the company Mary Ginseng House.
The company is recalling its 100 per cent pure high calibre pow sum ontario ginseng, after Health Canada said it could pose a risk to people with compromised immune systems.
Health Canada tested the product after a consumer complaint.
Health Canada says the bacteria found don’t pose a significant risk to healthy people whose bodies can successfully fight off an infection.
However, those with weakened immune systems could end up with a serious infection of the lower intestine causing cramps and watery, bloody diarrhea.
