Church Audit in The Glebe

The Archdiocese of Ottawa is keeping mum on its audit of Blessed Sacrament Church in the Glebe.
Monsignor Kevin Beach said he doesn’t know when it will be completed – or if it will even be made public.
Auditors were called into check the books in early March and questions were raised about $250,000 worth of cheques issued to Father Joe Leclair from church accounts between 2006 and 2010.
The Ottawa Citizen said Leclair had the authority to issue cheques – even to himself – without another signature.
Leclair has admitted he has a gambling problem, although he denies ever misusing church funds.
On Easter Sunday he announced he would be leaving the parish.
