SIU probe Ottawa Valley crash

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate after a single-vehicle collision over the weekend, just west of Perth.

OPP pulled over a vehicle at around 4 p.m. for a traffic offense on County Rd. 12 near McDonald’s Corners, which is about 95 km west of Ottawa. A 17-year-old girl was behind the wheel.

As the officer approached the driver, she drove away.

Shortly after, the car lost control and veered off the road, striking a pole.

The teen was taken to the hospital in Perth and then airlifted to the Ottawa hospital. However, she is now in a Kingston hospital in critical, but stable condition.
