Gas prices climb even higher!

Another painful hike at the pumps across the capital overnight as gas rose two-and-a-half cents.   

Over the last two days, the price for a litre of regular unleaded has gone up more than eight-cents-a-litre.   

In Gatineau, the price is hovering around $1.29 a litre.     

Gas watchdog Dan McTeague barks back at the oil companies saying speculation in the market is fueling the bite to your wallet.     

He says the price is several cents above what it should be.   

Now if you were waiting for political help to battle back, Ontario Energy Minister Brad Duguid says it’s out of his hands.

While there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of relief on the way for motorists, ever since oil hit $100 a barrel, Canadians have been fighting back.    

The sale of compact cars in this country is up 23 per cent year over year.
