PENTICTON, B.C. – The search for a Canadian missing in the wilds of Nevada will intensify today.
Albert Chretien has been missing since March but the search for him started anew last weekend after his wife Rita was miraculously found alive.
The B.C. couple became stranded on Mar. 19 and Albert Chretien went to get help three days later — never to return.
Searchers on four-wheelers scoured the wilderness for Chretien yesterday, finding nothing.
But Elko County Sheriff Jim Pitts says they’ll try again today.
Rita Chretien survived for seven weeks in the couple’s van by eating snow, some trail mix and some hard candy.
She’s now back in Canada, recuperating in a hospital in Penticton.
Media interest in Chretien’s tale of survival is high, but the family issued a statement yesterday saying she’s not ready to grant interviews just yet.
