Child falls from second-storey window in West Vancouver

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – For the third time this year, a child has fallen out of a window. This time, a four-year-old girl fell two storeys onto a concrete patio in West Vancouver last night.
Corporal Jag Johal says parents need to get serious when the weather heats up; a screen is not going to protect your child from tumbling. “If you have low-lying windows, you have to have mechanisms in place that will not allow a child through that… if you don’t, you are just putting the child’s life at risk.”
He says there are plastic or metal stoppers you can get to stop the window from opening wider than a couple of inches. There are also metal bars you can put on the inside.
If all else fails, Johal suggests keeping the windows shut and bring in a fan. The girl who fell this week has bumps and bruises, but is expected to be okay.
