Health Canada warns against using Simply Thick in infant formula

Health Canada is advising against giving premature infants a product called “Simply Thick” in the wake of intestinal illnesses that have cropped up south of the border.
“Simply Thick” is a product that can be added to breast milk and infant formula to make the liquids easier for babies to swallow.
But the U-S F-D-A i’s investigating 15 cases of necrotizing enterocolitis involving infants who were fed “Simply Thick” — and two of the cases were fatal.
Health Canada doesn’t know yet of any related cases here.
