VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – This cool spring weather has many of us browsing through travel brochures looking for sunny vacation spots. Canadian travellers spent over 3.3 billion dollars in the US in the first quarter, setting a new record.
Brad Davies with Virtually There Travel says it’s our high flying loonie that’s luring many of us south of the line.
“When you arrive at the destination, you dollar goes a little bit further, so people that would normally spend three or four days in the States, can now easily spend a week for the same amount that they did a year previous, so it’s been a real boon for Canadians travelling across the border.”
He says the hot spots right now are the sunny destinations like Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego. And, if you’re will to fly out of Bellingham, Davies says you can save up to 50 per cent more.
