Queensway Carleton closing some operating rooms for summer

The Queensway Carleton Hospital is being forced to close operating rooms for a second summer to help diminish its deficit.

For four weeks this summer, the hospital will use only two of its five operating rooms.  The closures will delay 240 surgeries.

Staff at the hospital say it’s possible these closures could become permanent.

Union vice president Peter Anis says that if permanent closures happen wait times for general surgeries could increase, adding they are already six months or longer.
