Alterna Do It For Dad brings in record numbers

A record 2100 people turned out for the 13th annual Alterna Do It For Dad Walk and Family Run Sunday.
The $530,000 raised in Sunday’s event will be used to help purchase the Da Cinci robotic-assisted surgical system for the Ottawa Hospital. The system will be used primarily to provide non-invasive prostate cancer surgery currently unavailable in Ottawa.
Former Ottawa broadcaster Greg Hebert’s team “Greggybear” was the top family fundraising team bringing in more than $72,000. Hebert inspired the city by sharing his story in March that doctors had given him only six months to live after his third cancer diagnosis.
