City unveils new plan for immigrants

A new plan to attract immigrants to Ottawa and help them integrate into the community has been released at city hall.
It’s aimed at helping immigrants succeed and stay in the region long- term. It also streamlines the services available to them.
Hindia Muhammad is the project director of the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership and says while there’s been a lot of progress in the city’s services for immigrants, a lot more still needs to be done.
“it’s quite exciting. it’s a celebration really, celebrating the work of the community. we’ve spent the last 18 months bringing together all sectors of our community,” said Muhammad.
About 6000 new immigrants call Ottawa their new home every year.
