Construction worker hospitalized after fall

A construction worker, said to be in his late 40’s, is in stable condition in hospital following a one storey fall on scaffolding outside the former Book Market building on Dalhousie Street at Rideau Street just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The man fell after a piece of the wall he was working on fell on top of him, sending him falling onto the lower level of scaffolding, according to Ottawa Fire spokesperson Marc Messier.
Messier said the man was able to get back to the third storey of the building on his own where he was taken care of by co-workers until fire and paramedics arrived on scene.
A release from Ottawa Paramedics stated the man is in stable condition, suffering cuts and bruises but no life-threatening or serious injuries.
The section of Dalhousie Street in front of the building was closed for several hours as engineers worked to ensure no more of the building would come down.
