Afghan detainee documents to be released

Government sources have confirmed to 1310News that thousands of Afghan detainee documents will be released Wednesday afternoon.
For years the Harper Tories have been dogged by allegations that military officials knew some prisoners being handed to Afghan forces were being abused and tortured.
Two former Supreme Court justices and a committee of M-P’s has been sifting through more than 40-thousand documents since last July but not all of them will be released.
The official opposition believes there will be little information coming to light and Defence Critic Jack Harris tells 1310News anything bad will likely be blacked out. Harris says up to 25-thousand pages may be made public but more needs to be done.
The government initially refused to disclose documents, which prompted a parliamentary crisis in 2009.
