Tornado sends sailors scrambling

Some wind and rain turned furious Thursday evening as a tornado touched down on Shirley’s Bay.

Some sailors at the nearby Nepean Sailing Club were out racing on Lac Deschenes and were forced to hurry back to shore.

Mike was on the water at the time, and explains that they are used to the sporadic weather conditions, and that everyone remained calm, “It was just another typical race night here. The weather in generally goofy on this lake and we get big wind shifts, we get wind that comes down the river, we get all kinds of different types of weather.”
