A thunderstorm is pounding the Ottawa area

Ottawa is being hammered by a severe thunderstorm.
The storm arrived in the west end shortly before 7:00pm Tuesday evening. It has already caused power outages across the city and many flight delays at the airport.
Hydro One is telling 1310News there are blackouts in the communities of Gloucester, Goulbourn, Kanata and Nepean, as well as 8,000 customers in the Tweed area.
There was a brief power outage at the Ottawa airport and the lightning has grounded flights temporarily.
Fire Stations in the city’s west end are already being flooded with phone calls, although most of them are alarms due to the power fluctuations.
Fire crews are battling one fire in Kanata, when the roof of a two storey home went up in flames.
1310News has also heard of golf ball sized hail in Pembroke and Petawawa, and there are uncofirmed reports that a landslide has shut down highway 105 near Chelsea.
We could get up to 60mm of rain and Environment Canada says there is a risk of a tornado or funnel cloud.
The rain is expected to taper off this evening.

Ontario, Gatineau, Belleville, Quinte West, Eastern Northumberland County, Napanee, Consecon, Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Stirling, Tweed, Madoc, Tamworth, Sydenham, South Frontenac, Kaladar, Bannockburn, Bon Echo Park, Westport, Charleston Lake, Richmond, Metcalfe Plevna, Sharbot Lake, Western Lanark County, Smiths Falls, Perth, Eastern Lanark County, Renfrew, Arnprior, Calabogie.
