Gas leak forces evacuations in Gatineau

Residents of 11 businesses and homes were forced to evacuate their buildings following a gas leak in Gatineau.

Shortly after 1:00pm Tuesday afternoon construction crews on Montcalm Street accidentally severed a pipeline, causing gas to waft through the neighbourhood.

12 firefighters and workers from Enbridge quickly began repairs by diverting the gas and welding the pipe back together.

People were allowed back in shortly before 4:00pm.

There are no reports of any injuries.
