Employment Insurance cheques in the mail

The cheque is in the mail for employment insurance recipients, or will be by Thursday.

Ottawa says EI cheques issued between June 10th and 22nd, when postal workers were locked out, will be in the mail after close of business Wednesday.

Until then, people who receive jobless benefits by mail can pick up their cheques in person at Service Canada Centres or alternate distribution centres.

Recipients can find out where and how to pick up their cheques by clicking on “locate your ei cheque” on the service canada website (www.servicecanada.gc.ca).

Cheques printed after June 22nd will be mailed as usual.

Meantime, the federal government is encouraging Canadians to sign up for direct deposit service to avoid future disruptions in receiving their benefits.
