Riot review gets started

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Riot reviewers John Furlong and Doug Keefe toured the damaged parts of Downtown Vancouver Thursday as they get to work on their report into the June 15th riot.

Furlong says they will look at policing before, during, and after the riot and the event planning leading up to it.

They won’t give any specifics as to what they’ll comment on in the report, but Furlong says the point of the review is to find facts and give recommendations so the city can move on.

“It’s pretty clear to us there’s a great desire for this city to be able to have these events, have them executed in a very happy and safe way,” he says. “And what we’re trying to do is help bring that about.”

As for whether the mayor and his staff will be questioned, Keefe would only say again that “event planning will be looked at” and that the city is cooperating.

Their report is due August 31st.
