Workers suffer injuries in two separate industrial accidents

Ottawa paramedics responded to two separate industrial accidents Monday afternoon just four minutes apart.
At 12:07 p.m. in the Merivale Road and Kirkwood Avenue area paramedics treated a 22 year-old male worker for a deep cut to one foot after the chainsaw he was using to remove a tree stump kicked back, striking him in the top part of the foot.
Then at 12:11 p.m. paramedics were called to new home construction in the area of Cambrian and Greenbank roads where they treated a 25 year-old male construction worker who was struck on the head with a metal I-beam. The man was on a ladder when the incident happened, causing him to fall and lose consciousness. The worker was conscious at arrival of paramedics, and sustained a concussion head injury and a laceration and bruising to his face.
Both men were listed in stable condition in hospital.
The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been notified of these two incidents.
