Ottawa police investigate possible drowning

Ottawa police are investigating the death of a possible drowning in the city’s west end.
Emergency crews responded to a call Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock at Brittania Beach.
A man was pulled out of the water near Greenview point by two beach-goers who had spotted him floating in the water. He had no pulse and wasn’t breathing.
Lifeguards performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but they were unable to revive the man.
Ottawa Fire’s Marc Messier tells 1310News there is a possibility the man may have been drinking prior to going into the water, but that has not yet been confirmed.
The man’s age and name has not been released. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
