The Ottawa Senators have acquired goaltender Jonas Johansson from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for future considerations, the NHL club announced Friday.
The 31-year-old had an 11-10-2 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage in 25 games in 2025-26.
Johansson has played in 105 NHL games since making his debut with the Buffalo Sabres in 2019-20.
After spending time with the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers, he joined the Lightning at the start of the 2023–24 season.
The six-foot-five, 217-pound Swede did not play 10 games in a single NHL season until he landed with Tampa Bay, where he played 26, 19 and 25 games in his three seasons with the Lightning.
Johansson was a third-round selection (61st overall) by Buffalo in the 2014 NHL draft.
The Senators made the move after losing goaltender Leevi Meriläinen on waivers to the Vancouver Canucks.
The 24-year-old was the odd netminder out with the Senators going with Samuel Ersson as the backup to Linus Ullmark.
Meriläinen played in 20 games for the Senators last season, posting an 8-10-1 record with a 3.51 goals-against average and an .860 save percentage. He also appeared in 19 games in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, going 8-8-2 with a 2.77 GAA, a .909 save percentage, and two shutouts.
In 34 career NHL games, Meriläinen had a 16-14-3 with a 3.00 GAA, an .885 save percentage, and three shutouts.
Meriläinen won a silver medal with Finland at the 2022 world junior championship.
He was selected by the Senators in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
