Death on Shuswap River

ENDERBY (NEWS1130) – A woman has died on Shuswap River near Enderby.  Olivia Pearase with town’s River Ambassadors program tells News1130 a group of four or five people were floating down the river when they ran into some logs.

“And they popped their tubes and they all got out safely, except for the one woman whose tube was tied around her ankle and she got pulled under.”

She adds the water level right now is unseasonably high.  “It’s higher than normal levels at the moment.  We are warning people that it is higher and faster and they need to take those extra precautions.”

The woman, whose name has not been released, was believed to be part of a group of tourists from England.
