One man charged on numerous counts after attempted armed robbery

OTTAWA, Ont. – Ottawa police have charged a man in connection to an armed robbery at a pawn shop near the Monfort Hospital, Wednesday evening.
Edgar Casseus, 25, of Ottawa, has been hit with the following charges:
– Robbery
– Mischief
– Weapons dangerous
– Use of an imitation firearm during commission of offense
Thanks to the quick thinking of the shop’s owner, Kirby, police were able to make an arrest.
Kirby told 1310News he was about to lock up his shop, when the robber approached him at gunpoint. He then had seconds to decide what to do. So he locked the suspect in his shop until police arrived.
Meantime, Dan who lives just down the street from the shop told 1310News that the attempted armed robbery isn’t that unusual for the area.
“About a year and a half ago there was an attempted robbery at the bank just down the road here. It has never been a great neighbourhood.”
Casseus is slated to make a court appearance, Thursday.
