Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Ottawa

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Ottawa, including Kanata, Orleans, Richmond and Metcalfe.

The warning also includes Gatineau, Prescott, Russell, and the Cornwall, Alexandria and Winchester areas.

Environment Canada warns a severe thunderstorm raining 48 millimetres in just under an hour is moving through Waterloo airport toward Ottawa.

There could be hail up to 2 cm in diameter and heavy rain fall, along with winds gusting up to 90 km/h.
