Toronto-area student falls into Niagara River

Police say a woman who was swept over Niagara Falls was an international student from Japan.

Video surveillance shows the woman, who was in her 20’s, straddling a railing last evening and falling into the river when she stood up.

The search for her body continues with teams using jet boats and helicopters.

Police are working with the Japanese consulate to notify the woman’s family.

All of this happened after a 27-year-old man from London, Ont., survived a 30-foot fall down the Niagara gorge early Sunday morning.

Police said he’s going to be charged under the Niagara Parks Act of Ontario.
