OPP cracking down on top four driving offences over long weekend

OTTAWA – The O-P-P say they will be patrolling highways, roads, lakes, rivers and trails over the Labour Day weekend.

Officers will be targeting impaired, distracted and aggressive drivers. They will also be ensuring that people are wearing seatbelts and children are in proper car seats.

Police say 38 people have died on roads in eastern Ontario since January 1st and distracted driving was a factor in many of the crashes. Thirty-three people died during the same period last year.

Police say they are taking to social media to spread the word about safe driving.
