OC Transpo route changes in effect

Ottawa – OC Transpo’s new fall service plan kicks in on Sunday.

The changes include a handful of outright route cancellations, including of the central No. 3 between Colonnade Road and the Rideau Centre via Preston Street, and many more shortenings of routes and reductions in off-peak service. On routes that remain, some bus stops are being moved so they’ll be more accessible to people who used to ride buses that will no longer run, and some time points are being changed to make for better connections.

The “optimization plan” is aimed at saving $20 million in the transit’s operating budget of $400 million with initial costs of $450 000.
