Suspect in B.C. kidnapping arrested

VANCOUVER – The sole suspect in the disappearance of three-year-old Kienan Hebert has been charged with two counts of breach of probation.
Randall Hopley, a 46-year-old convicted sex offender, was arrested this morning in Alberta, but he has not been charged in Kienan’s disappearance.
The boy was returned safe to his home Sunday morning.
Tuesday evening the RCMP will hold a press conference where it is expected they will address just how Kienan was abducted as well as how he was returned home – which had been cordoned off by police and unoccupied since the boy’s disappearance.
Police were alerted to the young boy’s return home by an early morning 911 phone call.
Despite the unanswered questions, the town’s acting mayor says residents of Sparwood are relieved by the arrest.
“My God, maybe now we can get back to some normality. My God, it’s been the longest week in Sparwood.”
Hopley was tracked down by police dogs near a gravel pit in the area of Crow’s Nest, Alberta Tuesday morning.
So far police have charged Hopley with breaching his probation, but more charges are pending.
