Thanksgiving Summer long weekend?

The perfect summer long weekend forecast: lots of sun, high temperatures but not a lot of humidity. Well, that’s what’s in store for Ottawa this weekend and for October it is a little unusual but certainly not unwelcome.
In true Ottawa fashion people all over the capital will be hitting bike trails, going running, taking walks with their families and hitting the greens for a round of golf.
Sure, there will still be turkey but some, like Adam, will be cooking it on the barbecue instead of in the oven. He admits it’s not traditional.
“It’s not cramped up inside, you know, where you’re all shivering in around the fireplace, but it should be very good,” he said.
And others in the capital agree.
Laura said she wouldn’t trade this forecast for anything, even if it means giving up turtlenecks and scented candles that usually come with turkey dinner. She and her family will be taking a long walk in the Gatineau Hills and maybe even taking their turkey outside to tuck in.
“After cooking, I’ll probably be biking and maybe even (taking) a last kayak trip,” said Cindy who was enjoying a lunch break outside Friday already taking advantage of the sunshine.
And you can bet the golf course will be a little busier than usual this weekend as everyone flocks to the green to enjoy the sunshine.
