Patios packed in Ottawa this long weekend

Many families headed to the ByWard Market on Sunday afternoon to enjoy Thanksgiving on a sunny patio!
Sporting shorts and sandals, they browsed the farmers’ market and enjoyed drinks on restaurant patios.
Many restaurants said they weren’t expecting such a big crowd at this time of year.
Brian manages The Grand restaurant and said he was not prepared to serve a a packed patio.
“Usually it’s not even close to this busy at this time,” he said. “So there’s a lot of calling people and people working long, long hours.”
Many residents like George said they were tweaking their dinner plans to suit the weather.
“We’re going to have a little barbecue because the weather’s so nice,” said George.”We’re going to spend it outdoors in our backyard.”
Tourist John said the weather was perfect for some sightseeing!
“I took a little stroll over to the parliament buildings and the Rideau canal,” he said.
John said he was pleasantly surprised to be dining on patios during his visit.
“Last night I came down and we went to a pub there and had dinner and that,” he said. “It’s beautiful. The weather is just gorgeous!”
