Sens fall to Sabres in shootout

OTTAWA, On.- The Ottawa Senators lost their 3rd straight game, this one in a shootout, 3-2 to the Buffalo Sabres. Derek Roy scored the game winning goal.
The Sens goals were scored by Erik Condra and Milan Michalek. Condra was sprung on a breakaway by Zack Smith and made no mistake. That tied the game at 2 in the 2nd. And Michalek had a great individual effort for his 9th goal of the season. Goalie Craig Anderson and Chris Philips with the assists on that one. Michalek also scored in the shootout.
Derek Roy and Jordan Leopold were the regulation goal scorers for Buffalo. Both came in the 2nd period.
The surprise of this game was Jhonas Enroth in goal for Buffalo. He made 32 saves on the night, and still hasn’t lost a game in regulation in all of 2011 (11-0-1). He is 4-0 on the season.
Also of note, Colin Greening took a hard hit in to the boards from Paul Gustad in the second period. He went to the locker room for the remainder of the frame but returned for the 3rd.
And on another front, it was the 8th annual soldiers appreciation night at Scotiabank Place. Over 3000 soldiers and their families were at the rink to take in the game.
The Sabres now lead the Sens by two points in the North-East division standings.
