Sens lose 6th straight

BUFFALO – It was the 11th day, in the 11th month, of the year 2011, and number 11 was back in the Ottawa Senators line-up, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Sens were thumped 5-1 by the Buffalo Sabres.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson had recovered from his concussion and was playing his first game since October 29th. He had 4 shots on goal in 19:36 of ice time.
It was the 5th straight loss for the Senators, as they now head to Toronto for a Saturday night match-up.
Craig Anderson was pulled from the Ottawa goal after allowing two goals in the first two minutes and 25 seconds. He was replaced by Alex Auld who didn’t do much better, allowing three goals on 15 shots.
Jhonas Enroth remained undefeated on the season (5-0-0) including two wins over the Sens in the last two weeks. He has not lost a game in regulation in 2011, going 12-0-1 over that stretch.
The Senators sit five points back of Buffalo in the standings, but the Sabres also have two games in hand.
The Ottawa goal scorer was Sergei Gonchar. Erik Karlsson knotched his 14 assist on the play which ties him for the league lead.
