Protesters return to Congolese Embassy, disrupt rush hour traffic

Protesters returned to the embassy of the Democratic Republic of Congo Friday afternoon.
About seventy people spent hours chanting, singing, and dancing face to face with more than fifty police officers in riot gear.
They were separated by a section of barriers chained together.
The demonstration had a vastly different mood from the protest on Tuesday with less violence and anger.
The demonstrators also took the protest on the road, marching down to King Edward and Rideau, briefly blocking traffic during the afternoon rush. That incident resulted in three protesters being arrested.
Still, demonstrators tell 1310News they refuse to be ignored and they’ll continue to march as long as is necessary.
They say the next march will be at the Prime Minister’s residence, 24 Sussex Drive.
