OTTAWA – In front of sell-out crowd of 20,500 at Scotiabank Place, the Senators were crushed by the Montreal Canadiens 6-2 on Tuesday. With the win, Montreal snapped their 5 game losing streak, and gave Randy Cunneyworth his first victory as head coach.
It was horrific night for Senators goaltender Craig Anderson. He allowed 4 goals on 7 shots and was pulled from the game in the 2nd period. Alex Auld allowed 2 more goals before the night was done.
Montreal’s offensive came from six different scorers: Erik Cole, P.K. Subban, Mike Cammalleri, Tomas Plekanec, Lars Eller and Louie Leblanc.
Zack Smith and Jason Spezza were the only goal scorers for Ottawa.
On a bright note for the Sens: Ottawa’s leading goal scorer Milan Michalek returned to action after missing 5 games with a concussion.
Daniel Alfredsson was unable to net his 400th career NHL goal on Tuesday. But he will have another chance to do it in front of the home crowd on Friday when the Sens play their next game, hosting the Calgary Flames.
