Ottawa man charged with stealing more than $1.5 million of computer equipment

An Ottawa man is facing charges after reportedly defrauding his former employer of $1.5 million worth of computer equipment.

Police tell 1310News that the suspect, who is known to police, worked at a local engineering company between 2006 and 2009.

It’s alleged that during that time, he ordered thousands of laptops, computer monitors and other pieces of equipment through the company’s internal ordering system.  He then sold the electronics, worth more than a million dollars, to third parties.

Marc Morissette, 43, has been charged with fraud over $5000, possession of proceeds and possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 and money laundering.
