SAINT PAUL, MN (NEWS1130) – Daniel Sedin had a goal and an assist, while brother Henrik banged in his own rebound early in the second period as Vancouver defeated the Wild for the fourth time in five games this season, 5-2.
After Dany Heatley opened the scoring 13 seconds into the game for Minnesota, Daniel scored his 24th of the season on the power play. With that goal, Daniel tied Tony Tanti for second overall on the Canucks‘ all-time powerplay goal list with 102. Markus Naslund leads with 114.
Maxim Lapierre rounded out the scoring in the first period as the Canucks led 2-1.
Henrik Sedin extended his consecutive games played streak to 553 after finding out he did not break his ankle on a shot by Nashville’s Kevin Klein on Tuesday night. The Sedins have racked 17 points in five games against Minnesota.
In the third period. Manny Malhotra and Devin Setoguchi exchanged goals before Ryan Kesler iced the contest for Vancouver with an empty net goal. Kesler has scored in five straight games and has a seven game point streak.
Cory Schneider made 22 saves in the Canucks’ goal.
Alain Vigneault’s crew can sweep their four game road trip with a win in Calgary on Saturday.
