Canucks begin six-game road trip

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The Vancouver Canucks kick off their six game road trip in Edmonton Sunday evening. The team is 9-0-3 over their last 12 games. As of Sunday morning, they trail the Detroit Red Wings by two points for top spot in the NHL.

The Oilers have dropped five of their last six games and are without first overall draft pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. He will miss at least another week with a shoulder injury.

Vancouver is coming off of one its best performances of the year, a 6-2 drubbing of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

“It was the Leafs’ last game of the road trip,” Canucks forward Daniel Sedin said.  “I don’t know if they were tired or what, but there seemed to be a lot of odd-man rushes and stuff like that.”

Vancouver’s top line of Daniel and Henrik Sedin and Alex Burrows combined for 10 points. The only negative for the Canucks came when Burrows collided with an official and ended up with a nasty gash on his nose.

“The puck just came out and I was looking at the net and I collided with the ref,” Burrows said.  “My visor or his visor hit my nose and it’s just part of the game.”

Vancouver will play six games in 10 nights, including a trip to Detroit on Thursday.
