Interim Liberal leader Bob Rae has accepted the resignation of a party staffer over the “Vikileaks” scandal, and has apologized for the party’s involvement in the case.
The staffer allegedly tweeted personal details about Public Safety Minister Vic Toews’ divorce after Toews tabled his controversial internet surveillance bill.
Toews has accepted the apology but still wants the speaker of the House of Commons to investigate.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird also apologized after accusing the New Democrats of being behind the tweets.
