Three fires in the city caused plenty of damage in the city from Saturday night into Sunday morning, but no injuries have been reported.
Ottawa Fire’s night started around 10:30 p.m. in Orleans, responding to a 9-1-1 call about smoke coming from a garage at 6345 Long Bow Gate.
They arrived to find the garage fully engulfed and quickly upgraded it to a three-alarm fire. They contained it to the garage but the siding of the neighbouring house did suffer some melting damage and six people from neighbouring units were evacuated as a precaution.
Damage is estimated at $360,000.
About an hour later, crews were called to a kitchen fire in the south end. One woman was assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
The kitchen was gutted and there was major damage to the second and third floors of 3275 McCarthy, Unit 139. Damage estimated at $35,000.
Crews then responded to another garage fire just after 2 a.m. Careless smoking is suspected in the blaze at 381 Island Park Drive.
Damage is estimated at $70,000.
