CAA launches “Worst Roads” campaign

Does your commute include a bumpy road riddled with potholes?

Now’s your chance to speak up and maybe win some free gas to boot!

The CAA has launched its “Worst Roads” campaign, an annual poll that lets people vote for the worst traffic arteries in the province. Right now, Ottawa’s Carling Avenue has the dubious honour of leading the pack in Eastern Ontario.

The organization says despite a time of major cutbacks, the government needs to keep spending money on city streets.

“This is an area that in our opinion, definitely cannot be reduced in funding,” says the CAA’s Faye Lyons. “Its infrastructure is key. (Roads are) important for not just mobility, but for safety.  It really is an area that we believe governments on all levels need to make a priority.”

Votes can be cast online until April 24, with daily prizes of $50 gas cards and a grand prize of free gas for a year.
