Ottawa blasted by winter weather

OTTAWA, Ont. – If you’re already in a spring frame-of-mind, a blast of winter weather may have come as a big shock.A winter storm moved from the Atlantic seaboard bringing windy weather and a mixture of rain and snow.

1310 meteorologist Jill Taylor said although the weather will not be spring-like for the next 24 hours, it will taper off to rain and maybe even sun by mid week.

“We may experience some wind mixing with snow at times today, maybe even some ice pellets, but generally light rain through the afternoon and gusty northeast wind with a high of 8 degrees.  Expect this system to be with us today, tonight and tomorrow morning, so it will affect not only your drive in this morning but likely your drive home and your drive back to work tomorrow morning.”

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for much of Ontario including the national capital region because of the nor’easter.

The temperature will be as much as eight to ten degrees below normal Monday, with the winds making it feel even colder.

Last year, we got approximately 4.2 cm of snow in Ottawa in April.
