OTTAWA, Ont. – A possible gas leak closed several roads in Ottawa’s west end Thursday morning.
“We received a call around 5 a.m. from a citizen who works in the area,” said Pat McCaffery of Ottawa Police. “He said he could smell gas so we responded to the area with the fire department.
The potential leak closed Moodie Drive between Fallowfield and West Hunt Club. The closure caused major delays for more than 100 First Student school buses in the affected area. There were about another 100 people left waiting at a nearby McEwans gas station for hours.
Ottawa fire crews traced the gas leak back to a distribution valve that likely malfunctioned. The investigation is continuing.
