Cyclist killed after being hit by car on Bronson Avenue

OTTAWA, Ont. – Ottawa police are looking for witnesses to a fatal collision on Bronson Avenue between a cyclist and a vehicle Thursday night.

Emergency medical services were called to Bronson near Holmwood Avenue shortly before 8:00 p.m., where they found an off-duty paramedic treating the cyclist for life-threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old woman, who has not been identified, died later in hospital. Bronson Avenue southbound at Holmwood Avenue was closed for four hours as police investigated the scene

Police told 1310News the driver of the car was not travelling quickly at the time of the crash, and that the cyclist was heading north in the southbound lanes.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to please contact police.
