PRESTO card system gets green light

OTTAWA – The full roll-out of OC Transpo’s Presto payment system has finally been approved by the City’s transit commission.
The Presto smart card system was cleared for use last week; cards are now ready to be handed out.
U-Pass holders will be the first to get their smart cards, while regular transit users can purchase theirs online starting May 18, 2013. The cards will be available for purchase in person at sales centres, starting May 27, 2013.
OC Transpo is planning an advertising and information campaign this spring to let people know how to use the new system.
Presto was originally scheduled to be ready for launch last summer, but problems have followed the smart card since its introduction.
