Highrise fire under investigation

OTTAWA – Fire crews were called to a highrise at 311 Bell St. South on Saturday around noon after multiple calls of smoke coming from a balcony on the eighth floor.
Ottawa Fire managed to get the blaze under control in less than an hour, but not before $60,000 in damage was done to apartment 809, the hallway and three apartment doors.
One man, 23, was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation and a laceration to his wrist, and taken to hospital in serious condition.
The cause of the blaze is unknown but fire investigators have handed the case over to the Ottawa Police.
