Ontario Craft Beer Week underway

Ontario Craft Beer Week kicked off on Sunday, giving those in the nations capital and the province a chance to taste a wide-variety of local beers.
The Corner Bar and Grill in Westboro had their own opening to the week Sunday, pairing up some of your favourite local beers with their menu to give your palette a workout.
Manager at the Corner, Ashley Craigs, said it is just the beginning of what’s on tap this week.
Craigs says one of the major events this week is the “Bluesfest tuneup” on Saturday, giving locals a chance to get in to summer mode before the huge music festival starts.
“We’ll have a bunch of Bluesfest music, they’ll be doing three different local beers in 8 ounce glasses paired with cheeses,” Craigs said.
“It’s a busy week at the Corner.”
Ontario Craft Beer week is put on by the provincial government, who are trying to help small brewers explore new marketing, training and tourism development opportunities.
In 2012, Ontario’s craft beers led LCBO sales in all categories, including wine and spirits, with nearly 45 per cent sales growth.
Craft brewers employ over 650 people in the province.
