Actor James Gandolfini dead at 51

Actor James Gandolfini — the actor famous for his role in “The Sopranos” — died Wednesday while on holiday in Rome. He was 51.
Hospital officials in Rome said Thursday Gandolfini died after suffering cardiac arrest.
Dr. Claudio Modini, head of the emergency room at the Policlinic Umberto I hospital, said Gandolfini arrived at the hospital at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday and was pronounced dead at 11 p.m.
He told The Associated Press on Thursday that an autopsy would be performed starting 24 hours after the death, as required by law.
In a statement, HBO called the three-time Emmy winner a great talent and a gentle and loving person.
Gandolfini played conflicted mob boss Tony Soprano in the HBO series, “The Sopranos,” that aired from 1999 to 2007.
His film credits included “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Killing Them Softly,” and he appeared in the Broadway production “God of Carnage.”
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lin, a son and daughter.
